Surfs Up!!

Yeah...!!!!if you want to picture this..I'm running to the ocean....in my mind.  I'm there..I'm so there I need to brush the sand off my feet.  I understand how the spring breakers of college past have felt.  I'm one of 'em now.

I'm soooo getting ready, this has been the most challenging time for me, I'm trying to cram large seeds of information into a quarter cup.  Remember when feeding your babies how they keep spitting out what they can't take in and you keep shoving it back in.  Yep, you got it.  I'm spitting and a shovin' ha!

I'm not spending a week at the beach, one day will suffice.  I don't like crowds.  I especially don't like the worry about cars running over me.  Last year it seemed to be a record  setting year of run overs.  Anyways,  I have my week planned, but the best laid plans of mice and men might just get in the way so I know enough about flexibility and not overdoing it.  This past week reminded me of that when my back went out on me.  I was so dang mad, the last thing I needed to do was miss school.  I have read almost two fiction books because sitting wasn't an option.  I couldn't even get on the computer.
When you are on your back you have time to think and sometimes I believe these things happen so you can look at your life in retrospect.  Okay God you got my attention...I'm all ears.  I've contemplated a number of things I've been avoiding or thought a postponement was in order and now I'm trying to make sure my "feelings" haven't changed.  Feelings.  They are much more than a song, and are not to be trusted.  You cannot rely on feelings.  Mine change like the tide
So right now I'm more concerned with my back healing and my yard sale taking place, and that's about it.  Everything else can fall into place as HE sees fit.  A spring break shouldn't be structured like school  it should be flexible.  So I'm flexing, actually, my back still is healing but you get the idea...

Speaking of spring break, have you ever watched the Frankie Avalon and Annette Funnicello movies?
They were "the most" in the '60's.  From todays standards they're so tame.  If you want to know what it was like for you older relatives in the dark ages, grab them, grab a blanket, some popcorn and Beach Blanket Bingo and while you're at it,  throw the Beach Boys on the Hi Fi.   It's so retro its fun watching the dances, fashion, lingo and hairstyles from then.  Cool man, it's like wow!  I know it's corny...but hey...

For the Moment

It's been an interesting actually a little too interesting time in my life. Let's see where do I begin. Since the very day in '09 when Santa had his first day off in a long time I've been stepping gingerly by way of crutches and very poorly at that. But I digress, (I actually wanted to say that no matter what the subject matter was, I've always liked the way it sounds.) I've been reacting very sad at the chore and lack of freedom of those crutches when the very words of my Aunt Rose turned all around and now I look at those crutches as a source of freedom, even though I'm not leaping literally around I am able to do more than most in my situation.
It's not about what you cannot do it is about what you CAN do.
So if things are unorganized the way they used to be, there are new ways to organize and right now it's in piles around the house. ha ha...I am an elderly person in training.......
I haven't written much at all because of computer issues, or the way I feel most days, bored. So my notebook of potential best sellers has fallen flat.
Facebook and I are quick friends just so I can keep up on the latest of anything and the only outing seems to be the thrift store where I volunteer and even then I need my own volunteers. I am pretty good at delegating.
Fortunately someone else said, " and this too shall pass," and so it shall, and life goes on and when it does I know that my time in the desert has been a fruitful one.
I have seen many oasis's along the way.
But for the moment, my computer is working, I feel fine, it's raining outside and the frig is full.
And God is an Awesome God.

Victory Gardens and Prada

We could be eating baked bean sandwiches ya know.
We could be planting a victory garden.
We could be experiencing the effects, the date, Sept. 12.
We could be hearing on the radio about the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
We could have just experienced the Tsunami from our televisions sets.
We could have and did in some point in time, these things happened or we lived through it or we heard all about any number of these things.
We are going through tough times and one day we'll look back on it and realize it is but a memory, a learned experience, a time in our life. How can we do anything but learn from it. Our loved ones, friends and acquaitances have all dealt with things, and most will say that which doesn't kill you will make you stronger. Pinching pennies isn't all bad and if you have any at all to pinch you can count yourself lucky. As long as you have love within your family, a roof over your head, and food in your stomach you can count yourself blessed. It isn't the shiny cars or the big houses or the latest pair of Pradas that make us who we are, to ourselves and each other, it is what we've always heard about, it's what's inside our very being that makes all the difference. It is how do you feel when your head hits the pillow. We can be saturated and are by the media telling us how bad things are, as if we needed to hear more of it. We could avoid the major news stations online and on the television. It would be like taking away the caffeine jolt in the morning but in the long run we would be all the better for it. We can Twitter our life away putting messages out and hope someone will respond like a catfish to a hook but I think God is trying to get our attention to stop and smell the flowers, things are very much out of control, fast, and some are very uncaring in their role as humans. It is not what the other person does it is how we handle and respond to this shakeup. Shake ups have happened through history and this isn't any different.

Awaiting a Praise

I look around and not a sparkle or a fluff a branch in green is anywhere. It is the 15th of December and right around the corner is the manger awaiting the newborn babe.

No matter if the decorations are up or down recreating a cherished time in history will still take place and my gratefulness to God for sending his Son and loving me enough through my earthly junk.

I can hear the chimes and the bells, the bleating of the sheep. The rustling of the hay underfoot of the cow and the breathing of the camels, the sluffing of the sand, escorting the wise men after such a long trip and the jubilation of the ending to their destination. And the Star.
The cries in the air of a heavenly king awaiting his mother for sustinance when He in all his glory could have taken care of his own thirst.

If ever there was a time to fall and praise and say Glory be to God on High...I do believe it would be even now.
