Vacation with the Crazies

Griswold?  Christmas?
 crazy family

We had our own kind of  crazy family Christmas.
Do you want to know who went?
Me, my ex husband, his gay bf, our daughter with her bf and his daughter.  Our son met us there as did his wife who he is separated with and his new gf.
Oh lordy, I've learned to not say I live a dull life and to please make it exciting.  Eventually you'll get what you ask for and I live it every day.

Washington, D.C., this was the first time I've ever been and I loved it.  I have to go back.  I loved the city, the architecture, the serious buildings, and the restaurants.
Everyday we look at these buildings, probably not paying attention like we should.  The photos on our  money is great but it doesn't give the same affect as standing in front of them "in person".

Protest at the Whitehouse
The Capitol Bldg. is huge and seems to go on and on, where the Whitehouse, is small in comparison to the photos and/or the news.
The Capital Bldg.
There was a protest happening as we approached, how exciting, I had the biggest urge to sing  "....don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam......"   but I held back just by watching and listening.

WWII MM
The Smithsonian was amazing, I didn't get to see it all, the Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln MM, so many things to see and pay tribute to as well.  I'm still awestruck by all of it.
Korean War MM
We walked and talked, ate, rested and gazed upon our lands historical assets.  I know there are many things to see all over our world.  But if you are venturing all over the world and haven't seen these things in your "own back yard".  For shame.
more crazy family
I feel the same way if you are from another country reading this and haven't seen or paid tribute to your own memorials and historical elements. You must do that.

I hope to go back some day to finish my tour with or without the people in my crazy family.

Have a Happy New Year

I'll be in Scotland......

Dang, I dropped a cheerio, I was scooping and stuffing them into my mouth, I know it's not ladylike but it is healthy. I'm smiling now with cheerios sticking out between my teeth, look away if ya can't handle it.....oh right...no picture.

How do you like to eat your food? Do you eat differently when there are others around or are you a closet eater, stuffing and jamming cause ya just can't get enough.

Have you noticed how everyone is an expert in everything?
Have you wondered, when we are out of the pickle our country has been in do you think anyone will learn anything at all from it or will we run rampant and do the same thing all over again?
Personally I think the politicians won't, what have they cut back on for themselves...????

Just wondered...........and in case you can't tell I really didn't have anything in particular to write about this time so I took the road to Scotland :)

( Ye'll take the high road and............)

A Real Peach

I would walk down the country road popping tar bubbles along the way and wondering if I'd ever get there from my grandparents farm. It was only a country house away but always seemed like forever when your steps are twice what they are now. The ditch beside me was cavernous and inviting but the stories of leeches and critters kept me out, sometimes. My imagination would soar with every step I'd take and knew the heat must be making my mind delirious and with a laugh I say this. The summertime heat was not my favorite so I trudged on with the thoughts of the apples which were just about ripe on the trees in the apple orchard. The barn with the rope and hay were real inviting too.

There are memories now of my Aunt Margaret Lucille, letting me try on her many earrings or the wonderful southern meals she'd prepare. I don't think I ever heard a harsh word from her, just a concerned one. She is special to me but I'm a terrible niece because I feel I don't give her the time she so deserves and for that matter I deserve her too. How many kids have a real peach of an Aunt in more ways than one and given the fact she is from Georgia, doesn't hurt at all.
There were many things I liked about the visit down the road and I am left with warm inviting memories, Cinnamon Rolls, Hot chicken Sandwichs made special for the Ice Cream Social at the church and a glass of Iced tea on a hot summers day.
Thanks so much for just a few of the many memories.
