Tucked in a Book-Author Unknown_

mom reading to her grandsons
After my mother passed, I "inherited" a few items from the little she had left.
Living in a nursing home doesn't afford much room, and you learn it's not the amount of things you have it's more about relationships that matter.

This poem was tucked in a book and I decided to keep it.   I don't know why, maybe because it was what she liked and it was like reaching across the room to touch a memory.

The Spirit of Christmas

I have a list of folks I know all written inside this book,
and every year at Christmas time I go and take a look,
And that is when I realize that those names are a part
of not of the book they're written in
but of my very heart.
For each name stands for someone
who has crossed my path some time,
and in that meeting they've
become a treasured gem of mine.
And once you've met some people,
the years cannot erase
the memory of a pleasant word or a
of a friendly face.
So when I send a Christmas Card
that is addressed to you
its because you're on that list of folks I am indebted to.
And you are one of many folks who in times past I've met,
and happen to be one of those I
don't want to forget.
And whether I have known you
for many years or few,
In some way you have a part
in shaping things I do.
This is the spirit of Christmas
forever and ever endures,
and leaves it's richest blessing
in the heart of you and yours.

Hey There! Merry --DE Stress-- Christmas

Merry Christmas!
Don't faint, I know it's been awhile.  I didn't have the umph to want to get online on one more site, you know there is a thing called overkill.

I've been busy  working on The Stick Page  on Facebook. In case you haven't been there, stop by and LIKE "The Stick Page." You won't regret it.
And I've been working on all kinds of other things that I find a little boring but necessary.
One thing I've done aside from  business is I've been making my own bread.  I love this. Weekly, two loaves of homemade goodness and the best air freshener ever. Yum. And it's my own therapy session too.

In the early stages of building your business or honing in on your craft there are details such as getting the contracts together, a necessary part of your business.  I also learned it doesn't matter who you are doing business with, draw one up. freebie, friend, family, or foe.  Do it!!!!!

So in the meantime we are in the days before Christmas.  In all through this house it's quiet. I've had quite a year and am learning not to be sad over boredom (yeah right!) or a temporary phase of loneliness.
A friend of mine reminded me while I was in one of those moods, Would you rather have your hoarder still living in your house (unbeknownst to me), or your possible squatter?  That slapped me back into reality so much so I got up and dusted something.
stick barb de-stresses

So in these coming days, when you feel the stress is too much, and no matter what you're involved in, put on some music and kick back --that's why there are gift cards and gift bags. And if you need a little extra help, I just read Suldog has a Christmas retail list available, almost one stop shopping. See, not to worry, and have yourself a Merry Little De-Stress Christmas now.

Seasoning

Po tay toe, pota to...hard to get the meaning across on "paper".  toe may toe, to ma ta,  ha! indeed!

How do you say those words?  How do you say Merry Christmas?

This year Merry Christmas will be the words I utter, not to annoy anyone, it is just an outward expression of me, of my outlook on the season. . I am not  kicking politically correctiveness to the side, but when it comes to MY Saviour, my very reason for celebrating the season I realized I'm not being true to me and HIM.
When we say Happy Holidays it is supposed to cover a multitude of versions of the season or day.   Am I stepping on toes?    Probably, but I've chosen this season to not step on my own and most importantly HIS

So, just like when I was a kid and we said Merry Christmas  there was  joy behind it,  truly hoping for the best for everyone for the season, there is the same if not more..  But the only difference now is I'm older, being politically correct is supposed to take precedence over my reason for the season.  I am not in any way trying to offend.  I am trying not to offend my Saviour.  My baby Jesus.  So from now on when you hear me say to you Merry Christmas, just know my heart is truly in the words.  They mean more, they exude more caring, sharing, and pleasing.  Pleasing the one who is the reason I breathe..

Merry Christmas ...How Sweet it is!

Merry   Christmas                                                                                                                    I've been so crazy busy lately with baking, being out of town, volunteering and dog sitting I've gone and neglected my blog.
For shame.

Yesterday my daughter and I as well as a group of friends gathered together at another friends house to make cinnamon rolls ( what a great kitchen to bake in).  We had a wonderful time and this morning I had the aches and pains to prove it.   Not to mention a million extra calories dancing around on my backside and midsection....they have to be banished...oh well that's another blogpost.

It was so nice to see everyone put together their delicatable confection,  I meant to take photos but was so busy putting the dough together, 3 batches I might add, I completely forgot.  Not to worry, I plan on making another batch this week sometime.  It seems the few I promised goodies too have been temporarily neglected.

Right now I'm relishing in the peace and quiet away from the kitchen, trying not to think of the desserts for the Big Event.  Don't get me wrong, I'm regrouping.  What I've seriously learned from all this, this knee business is how much sweeter, no pun intended every little thing is.  I'm building my energies to start all over again in the kitchen tomorrow with one of my baking buddies.  Hopefully I'll remember to get the camera out and create a visual memory for my next post.

Let's not forget to remember this isn't just any Holiday this is a season of good will and giving.  Christs birth is the reason for this season.  So have a Merry Christmas whether you are in or out of the kitchen, giving presents or sending good wishes.  It's the thought that counts, even literally.
